GORMITI: THE NEW ERA
A legacy Italian franchise relaunched around a live-action TV series — built almost entirely from scratch. As Lead Design Engineer, I helped develop a full toyline with significant creative input given how little existed to reference. The action figures were the most involved, requiring constant iteration to balance cost and function across multiple character versions, accessories, and interactive features. I also deepened my electronics knowledge fitting sensors, small components, and battery systems into figures — including unreleased prototypes exploring face-changing and IR battle mechanics.
CICCIOBELLO
One of Italy's most iconic baby doll lines. As Lead Design Engineer, I managed the full seasonal range — typically developing six-plus dolls per season. Work spanned coordinating accessories, safety compliance, and factory production on core SKUs, while taking a deeper engineering role on interactive products like Bua and First Words, designing gameplay systems, selecting sensor mechanisms, and architecting multi-language PCB solutions for international markets.
TRANSFORMERS
As Associate Project Engineer at Hasbro, I worked across 50+ figures ranging from 5" to 30" Titan class. My role centered on briefing Takara Tomy and manufacturers with full product packages — decoplans, 3D models, packaging diecuts, forecasts, and target costs — then reviewing mold designs to verify materials and deco operations. I evaluated three prototype stages (EP1, EP2, FEP) per model, checking assembly, colorways, and tolerances across every moving part, and reviewing directions for accuracy.
SMURFS
One of the world's most enduring licensed franchises. As Lead Design Engineer, I managed nearly 30 collectible figures plus countless re-decos and special editions, coordinating color approvals, brand compliance, and occasional decoplans to keep everything on-model. On playsets, I worked with designers to minimize part counts and control CAPEX while dialing in accessory tolerances. The transforming figures required prototyping several mechanisms before landing on a swappable arms-and-head system.
MASHA AND THE BEAR
A globally beloved animated franchise with a massive licensed toy range. As Lead Design Engineer, I managed the full product range — from coordinating 30+ variations of the 12cm Masha doll with manufacturers in China, to contributing to blister and accessory mold development on select collectible waves. The transforming fairy doll was the most iterative challenge, requiring multiple rounds of material and tolerance refinement to get the TPU skirt to fit, flex, and hold its shape correctly across the full range of motion.
COCCOLOTTI
A beloved Italian collectible plush line with a decades-long legacy. As Lead Design Engineer, my work focused on quality control across new releases, designing electronics flowcharts for the various interactive versions, and sourcing new materials and finishes to keep the line feeling fresh season over season.
